If you’re like most people, you just spent the past month or so enjoying plenty of holiday cheer, food…. and calories. You’re probably feeling the holiday bloat, and you’re most likely not too happy about it.
Remember, the phrase, “What goes up must come down” also applies to the numbers on your scale. You’ve had some fun, and those numbers went up. But if you follow these five tips you’ll be well on your way to losing that holiday weight gain.
Don’t crash diet. After all that holiday food you might be feeling guilty and tempted to skip meals. Don’t! This will only wreck your metabolism and could make it even harder to lose those extra pounds.
Get moving. Exercise will torch calories and give you more energy – something you probably need after the stress and excitement of the holidays!
Remember that what you eat is more important than how much you eat. You probably gained a few pounds from starchy carbs, fatty cheese, and boozy drinks at parties. The best way to get the weight off is to go back to nutritious, low-calorie foods like fresh veggies, fruits, and lean meat. To undo your weight gain, you’ll need to eat the exact opposite of holiday party foods. Hopefully you’re sick of them anyway!
Just in case you’re tempted to forget how much weight you’ve gained in the past month, take a new full-length picture of yourself. Post it on your fridge next to a picture of pre-holidays you. Big difference, right? But don’t despair; you can get back to your old size soon!
Plan your meals. You probably won’t lose weight by accident; you’ll need to make a healthy meal plan, shop for nutritious foods, and stick to it. Remember that impulsive snacking at party buffets is what got you into this mess. A dedicated plan will get you out of it.
